What channels can publish stories
YouTube has launched a new format so that authors can build a more trusting relationship with the audience. Stories allowed bloggers to “see” with subscribers not 1-2 times a week when they publish videos, but more often – even every day. As with old friends.
Only channels that are subscribed to more than 10,000 users can download stories . If the blog has reached this mark recently, the Stories section will appear in 4 weeks.
Unlike Instagram, stories on YouTube are available for 7 days, and comments on them (for authors) – 30 days.
Where to watch stories
Stories can only be viewed on a smartphone:
- In the feed subscriptions. Above are posted familiar Instagram round icons – a list of channels. If the icon is circled in red, then there is a story to view;
- In the “Plots” tab on the channel page.
The controls are exactly the same as on Instagram: touch – pause, swipe left or right – go to the stories of another channel.
At the top there is a player showing the number of publications, and at the bottom – the “Leave a comment” button.
How to publish your story
To download the story, open the official YouTube app, click on the video camera plus icon and select “Add story”.
You can add a video from the gallery or record a new one. The maximum duration is 15 seconds. It is also possible to publish a photo.
The built-in editor allows you to insert music, apply filters and stickers, write text, as well as attach links to videos and sites.
When everything is ready, click the “Publish” button. If you want to post this story back to Instagram and Facebook, select “Save” – the video or photo will appear in the gallery.
In the published story, the author can see the number of views and comments.
How to work with comments
To create a trusting relationship with subscribers, it’s important to respond to comments on the stories: select someone’s thought or question and click Answer History. The camera starts up and you can record a photo or video response. It will be visible to all users.
Viewers can like, dizlaykat and respond to comments from other people, and you or the channel moderator – still save and delete them.
How to use stories to promote business
Use YouTube Stories to promote your business in the same way as Instagram Stories:
- Talk about new products and promotions;
- Conduct polls to find out the needs of the target audience;
- Publish useful and entertaining content.
Whether YouTube plans to launch targeted ads in Stories is unknown.
